The month of April does not just signify the beginning of summer. In Bangladesh, April also signifies the month when we call technicians to repair Air conditioners. For one reason or the other, our AC’s always seem to stop working just before the arrival of the scorching summer heat.
Some of the most common issues that AC owners face are:
- Hot air: This happens mostly due to gas leakage or a complete compressor shutdown.
- Frozen coils: This happens mostly when the AC has not been used for a significant period of time
- Leaks in gas pipes: Rust formation is the major cause.
While some technical faults are inevitable especially if you live in a damp area, most issues regarding AC’s are avoidable if we follow some simple steps.
Tips:
1. Switch your AC on for 10 minutes every week even in winter to keep the wires heated and to slow down rust formation.
2. Clean your AC regularly (internal) with soap and water to prevent the accumulation of dust.
3. If the gas pipes are covered with rust, consider painting them before leaks start to appear.
